About our league rules and guidelines for DLeague 2K21 Season

  1. These rules are applicable  only for the DLeague 2K21 Season.
  2. These rules are in accordance with the tournament format.
  3. These rules are linked on our sign up form and by joining DLeague, you have agreed that you have read and agreed to abide by these rules.
  4. These rules are subject to change and will be communicated internally among the players.

Player Eligibility

  1. DLeague is a Filipino-Australian league. Players must be Filipino-blooded, (either your Grandfather, Grandmother, Mother or Father came from Filipino bloodline).
  2. DLeague 2K21 is a Men’s developmental basketball division.
  3. Players must be fully paid to join & play in our basketball season.
  4. Players who have played in professional leagues are not allowed in this league.
  5. Players who are 16years old and above are allowed to play in this league.
  6. Players who are under the age of 18 are required to have a parental waiver signed to be able to join and play in DLeague. This must be submitted before the first game of the season.
  7. Registrants must be medically fit to join competitive sports.
  8. Players who have a history of being COVID positive from year 2020 will  be advised not to play in this league as basketball is a contact sport.   9. A player cannot join more than one team, but a player may change teams within the 5 rounds of the season.
  10. Players must have either Medicard or Private cover to join DLeague. The league doesn’t provide medical insurance as the league doesn’t include an insurance fee on the registration.
  11. DLeague is not an open league, this is a recreational/developmental league. Players are screened to make sure the level of play is enjoyable for the rest of the league.
  12. The league has all the right to choose who will play in this league through their own screening and assessment process.
  13. Fill-ins and players who have not registered are not allowed to participate in any game of this league.
  14. If a team puts a player in a game that violates this rule, it will be an automatic loss for the team for each game a team plays with an ineligible player.

Player Uniforms & Wearables

  1. Players are required to wear complete uniforms whenever they play an official season game in MBL or any of its sub-leagues. Officials will not allow a player with incomplete uniforms to play.
  2. Earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, fitness watches, any electronic under the uniform, and all metallic accessories are not allowed to be worn while playing.
  3. Players are allowed to wear warmers, compression wear under their uniforms.
  4. Sports basketball goggles is the only allowed eyewear in the league.
  5. Statement baller bracelets are allowed.
  6. Headbands, bandanas, turban & headgears are allowed as they represent culture and personal statements.
  7. Fracture protective masks are allowed.

Gameplay Elimination Round

  1. Elimination Round will have a Single Round Robin format. Teams will only play against teams in their Division.
  2. Regular Season games, Quarterfinals, Semifinals & Division Finals will have 4 Quarters, 10mins in each quarter in a running-time mode, except for the last 2 minutes of the game. There will be no 24sec shot clock rule except for the last 2 mins of the game.
  3. Each player has five fouls to give.
  4. Teams have one timeout each quarter. Time runs on these timeouts except for the last 2 mins of 4th quarter.
  5. Teams may alter their roster within the first 5 games of the season. New players that will be added must be approved and screen by the DLeague Committee, have a complete uniform, and fully settled rego before they can play. The screening is very important to make sure every new addition is leveled properly with the league.
  6. Elimination round games have no overtime period.
  7. Tied game score at the end of the game is called Draw. A Draw is higher than Loss in Team Rankings.
  8. Teams who will forfeit a game will have a demerit of -10 on Team Avg and 2 forfeits will mean instant elimination from the season. Forfeit is lower than a Loss.
  9. Teams must notify the league or captains group if they will forfeit the game 24hrs prior to the scheduled game. Failure to notify the league will incur $150 AUD penalty fee to the team. This penalty must be paid before their next game.
  10. Teams cannot change their Division placement.
  11. Players must have complete uniforms on all the games of the season.
  12. The minimum no. of players for a team to start or continue playing a game is four. Three or fewer players are allowed if a player cannot continue due to an injury or he fouled out of the game.
  13. Team Average (Team AVG) is the tiebreak for team standings.
  14. Videos cannot be used to overturn the outcome of the game. Videos can be used to implement reviews on misconduct and giving technical counts against a player or a team.

Post-season / Playoffs

  1. Teams cannot alter, replace or add players to their rosters after the Elimination Round.
  2. Players must have played at least 6 regular-season games to be eligible to play in the playoffs.
  3. Only the Top 8 teams from each Division will qualify for the Quarterfinals. This is a knockout round. The seeding and matches are displayed on our website.
  4. Semifinals is a knockout round. Winners from Semifinals round will proceed to Division Finals.
  5. Please note that Quarterfinals, Semifinals & Division Finals are all in running-time mode which means it will have 4 Quarters, 10mins in each quarter in a running time mode, except for the last 2 minutes of the game. There will be no 24sec shot clock rule except for the last 2 mins of the game.
  6. Ultra Grand Finals will have 4 Quarters. The first half is in 10mins running clock mode and the 2nd half is in stop clock mode. There will be a 24-second shot clock rule on the 2nd half.
    Two timeouts each qtr. Clock stops on timeouts of 2nd half. Overtime in playoffs is 2 minutes in stop clock mode.

Misconduct and Technical Count

  1. Protecting the players and everyone on the court is the priority of the league. Technical Count (TC) are like demerit points & it refers to the number of misconduct and unacceptable actions of a player within the season. Technical fouls  & game-related technical calls are not part of TC.
  2. Some of the actions that will be considered for TC – inflicting physical harm,  involvement in a fight, disrespectful behaviours towards anyone in the league including fans, etc.
  3. Player TCs are accumulated within the season. For 5 Technical Counts – season suspension & 3 TCs game suspension (next game).
  4. The League will collaborate and investigate matters with the league officials for issues concerning players.
  5. The league has the right to choose who can play in the league as part of the screening process.

Injuries & medical emergencies

  1. MBL doesn’t include insurance fees on registration fees, thus we only help in giving players first-aid in case of an injury.
  2. Calling emergency 000 in case of an emergency will be on a player’s behalf.
  3. MBL has some crew who are Registered Nurses around and the league has a first-aid kit on hand.

Refunds and Cancellation

  1. A player cannot ask for a refund for their uniforms once it has been done as they have their number and surnames on it.
  2. We don’t give refunds to players/teams once they have played a game of the season.
  3. It may take 14 days for a refund to complete to a nominated bank account.
